Airport Transport

Bangkok is served by two airports. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) serves all international flights and the majority of domestic flights to and from Bangkok. Don Muang Airport (DMK) now serves domestic flights only, after being replaced by the new airport in 2006. Both airports are located approximately 45 minutes from the city and are primarily serviced by taxis. The two airports are about 30km (18 miles) apart, which is important to note when planning to connect between international or domestic flights.

Airport Transfer:
For your convenience, a transfer from Suvarnabhumi International Airport or Don Muang Airport can be provided through hotel's Travel Counter. When booking, simply advise us of your flight number and arrival time and hotel limousine driver and airport representative will be waiting to meet you at the arrivals' gate.

Airport Taxi:
Located on the 2nd level of the Arrival Hall of Suvarnabhumni Airport taxis from the airport are readily available. As most taxi drivers do not speak English, it is advisable to contact the taxi hiring station to assist you with communicating with the driver. The one-way fare from the airport to the city is approximately 400 Thai Baht and highway toll charges are additional (around 25 Baht each).

Airport Express Bus:
This is an air-conditioned bus service between Suvarnabhumi International Airport and The Sukosol. The cost is Baht 150 and it takes about 1 hour, departing every 20min. Airport Express services operate from 5:00 am to midnight daily. You will need to catch bus AE4 Suvarnabhumi-Hua Lamphong (via expressway), getting off at stop 6: BTS Phaya Thai (Florida Hotel), which is directly opposite the hotel. The bus departs from the airport Arrival Hall, level 1 (gate 8).

Hotel Transportation Hire

The hotel is pleased to offer a range of private and convenient transportation options for guests. The hotel can provide a Limousine, 3 people max; or Toyota Van, 10 people max. Transportation can be hired by the hour, minimum of two, or the day, up to 12 hours. Trips can be for around the city of Bangkok, or further afield to beaches like Pattaya and Hua Hin. Skytrain

Currently there are two routes, the Sukhumvit Line and the Silom Line, which cover much of the central city and its many commercial, residential and tourist areas. The trains run daily between 6:00 am and 12:00 midnight with frequent services, about every 5 minutes. At The Sukosol you are located conveniently just across the road from the Skytrain Phaya Thai Station (exit 4) on the Sukhumvit Line. From here you can easily change to the Silom Line at Siam Station. Using the automated (in English) ticket machines or ticket window you can buy a Single Journey Ticket, Baht 10 and up (depending on number of stops); One-Day Pass, 120 Baht; 30 Day SmartPass, 20/30/40 trips for Baht 440, 600 and 800 respectively (price excludes 30 Baht issuing fee).

Airport Rail Link

The Airport Rail Link runs from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to central Bangkok (Phaya Thai Station) from 06:00 to 24:00 daily. The Express Line departs every 30 minutes and takes a speedy 18 minutes door-to-door at a cost of Baht 150 (approx. $US 5). Alternatively, the City Line departs every 20 minutes and takes 30 minutes (stopping eight stations) for a fee of Baht 45 (approx. $US 1.5). Until 30 June 2012 special low season round-trip Express Line tickets for Baht 150 and single-trip tickets for Baht 90 are available. Full details can be found at www.bangkokairporttrain.com.

*The hotel provides a free shuttle service for guests from the hotel and the Airport Rail Link (ARL) at Phaya Thai Station.The station is located directly opposite the hotel and is easily accessible with a short bus ride across Si Ayuthaya Road. The shuttle is available to all guests daily from 10:30 to 17:30 and departs every half an hour from the front of the hotel. We also offer a free luggage assistance service to the ARL station 24 hours a day upon request.

Taxis

Bangkok's thousands of brightly coloured taxis are a great way to travel as most are new, air-conditioned and have working seatbelts. The meter charge is 35B for the first 2km, then 4.50B for each of the next 10km. Freeway tolls -- 25B to 70B depending on where you start - must be paid by the passenger. All taxis have meters installed and bargaining is not necessary. The hotel porters in the main lobby are happy to arrange a taxi for you.

Motorcycle Taxi

Simply tell your driver where you want to go, negotiate a price (from 10 Baht for a few blocks up to about 100 Baht going across town), strap on your helmet [if available] and away you go. Although a lot of fun and very efficient, be warned that the driving style and speed of your motorcycle taxi may not be what you're used to back home, so exercise this transportation option with care.

River Ferries

The Chao Phraya Express Boat Co. operates the main ferry service along the Chao Phraya river. The central pier is known as Sathorn, Saphan Taksin and Central Pier, and connects to the Skytrain's Saphan Taksin station. Fares are cheap and differ by distance, 10 to 34 Baht. A special tourist boat runs between Phra Athit and Sathorn every 30 minutes between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm. A one-day pass for unlimited travel costs 120 Baht. There are also dozens of cross-river ferries, which charge 3.50 Baht and run every few minutes until late at night.

Car Hire

Renting a car just to drive around Bangkok is not a good idea as parking is impossible, traffic is frustrating, road rules can be mysterious and the alternative -- taxis -- are cheap and ubiquitous. But if you still want too, all the big car-hire companies have offices in Bangkok and at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Rates start at around 1,500 Baht/per day for a small car. An International Driving Permit and passport are required for all rentals. Most can also provide drivers, 600 Baht/per day, 8 am to 6 pm.

Bus

Whilst not the preferred transport of tourists; public buses are plentiful and cheap and will get you to most destinations in Bangkok. Air-con fares typically start at 10 or 12 Baht; fares for ordinary (fan-con) buses start at 7 or 8 Baht. Most of the bus lines run between 5 am and 11 pm, except for the 'all-night' buses, which run from 3 am or 4 am to mid-morning. A Bangkok Bus Map by Roadway is available at Asia Books and some 7-Eleven stores, and is the most up-to-date route map available.

Tuk-Tuk

Doing a similar job to the taxi is Thailand's ubiquitous tuk-tuk. They are occasionally faster than taxis in heavy traffic as weaving in and out is easier, but generally about the same or slower. Without any luggage, three people can fit into one fairly comfortably. Fares always have to be bargained for before departing. Although these vehicles are a fun way to explore the city, they expose passengers to high pollution levels and offer almost no protection in case of an accident.
