Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul

Topic "Leader of the Future for Sustainability"

An "Artist of Business" would be the best way to describe Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, due to her remarkable ability to blend arts with industry and benefit society, all at once. Born the second child of four of loving parents Dr. Korn and Lady Niramol Suriyasat, Kobkarn was raised in a caring family environment, completing her secondary education in Bangkok. She then went abroad to the States to study fine arts at Wellesley College, and graduated with an architecture degree from Rhode Island School of Design. Returning home, Kobkarn joined MahBoonKrong Center Co., Ltd., as Assistant to Project Manager for interior design of the 250,000 sqm shopping complex, the largest in Bangkok. Upon its completion, she joined Toshiba Thailand Co., Ltd. as Advertising Manager. Putting her father's concept of "no privilege" in full force, she soon had clear insight of the family's business, and successive promotions leading up to her present post as Chairperson. Kobkarn’s work philosophy: “responsibility, honesty, creativity and work with heart” shines through in her dedication and daily drive resulting in the right decisions being made and carried through to fully benefit society. During 1997’s economic crash, Kobkarn led the business towards development, launching a range of IT products that won great praise. Her main joy in business? Knowing she can fulfill Toshiba’s motto of “Bring Good Things to Life” through promotion of the arts and educational projects. To this day, she remains faithfully determined to orient her business towards social responsibility rather than solely on industrial objectives.
